Hi, my name is Kate Lloyd. My dogs Maddy (a Border Collie cross) and Badger (unknown mix) are both from shelters.
Jinx – Belgenbeau Fuzzy Logic – is a Belgian Shepherd – there are four coat types and she is the rare Laekenois (Rough-haired) variety.
My interest in dog training has developed from my experiences with training my own dogs and the dogs I have fostered. I believe that, when undertaken with understanding, dog training improves a dog’s quality of life and strengthens the pet-owner bond. I strive to continue to learn all I can about animal training techniques, to use this knowledge in teaching dogs and to pass these skills on to my clients.
I hold an Honours Degree in Science.
I completed a nationally recognised government accredited Certificate in Dog Behaviour and Training through the National Dog Trainers Federation, with additional studies in training dogs for Assistance Roles (i.e. Disability Support) and for Substance Detection.
I am certified through the Clicker Trainer’s Competency Assessment Programme (CAP), gaining Distinctions at both Level 1 and Level 2.
I am a member of the South Australian Canine Association.
I am approved by the Dog and Cat Management Board as a Training Provider for Declared Dangerous Dogs.
I completed a course in Advanced Techniques for Increasing Motivation and Drive at the Michael Ellis School for Dog Trainers in California, USA.
I have volunteered for Guide Dogs SA and I have been a foster carer for the Greyhound Adoption Program (GAP)
I have provided and trained animals for theatre, films and TV commercials.
I participate in a number of dog sport activities including Dances With Dogs and Rally Obedience.
